03.09.2016 New Testament: Mark 12.42
To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 12.28–44 on March 9, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
Jesus sat by the treasury and watched people put money into it, in particular He noted the rich. After that, something happened,
Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans (Mark 12.42).
She put in two small copper coins. For us in America, that would be like putting in two pennies, which is not much in our eyes, nor was it much in the first century, but rather than excusing herself from giving, she still felt compelled to give! And Jesus did not stop her!
Questions:
- Do you give every first day of the week into the church’s treasury?
- Do you think the amount you give is too little to make a difference?
