To read the Bible in a year, read Deuteronomy 8–10 on March 9, In the year of our Lord 2016

By Don Ruhl

Remembering our violation of the will of God makes us hungry for His grace. Therefore, Moses reminded the children of Israel,

“Remember! Do not forget how you provoked the LORD your God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day that you departed from the land of Egypt until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against the LORD. Also in Horeb you provoked the LORD to wrath, so that the LORD was angry enough with you to have destroyed you” (Deuteronomy 9.7–8).

It is not that the Lord wants to beat us down, but He wants us to remember our infractions against Him, and that we might then appreciate His rich outpouring of grace and mercy.

Questions:

  • Do you think you are all that bad of a person?
  • Do you need God’s grace?
