03.16.2016 New Testament: Mark 15.40–41
To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 15.27–47 on March 16, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
Just after Mark showed the centurion in charge of the crucifixion of Jesus and of the other men with Him, Mark also wanted us to know that women observed the crucifixion of the Son of God,
There were also women looking on from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the Less and of Joses, and Salome, who also followed Him and ministered to Him when He was in Galilee, and many other women who came up with Him to Jerusalem (Mark 15.40–41).
Mark mentioned two Marys and we know that Mary the mother of Jesus also stand by Him during this awful event. While a crucifixion must have been a horrible thing to witness, these women stayed nevertheless, not because they wanted to see gore, but they had ministered to Jesus, and naturally they stood by Him when He died.
Questions:
- Do you know how to minister to Jesus?
- What would you do, if you witnessed the crucifixion of Jesus?
