04.08.2016 New Testament: Luke 11.39–40
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 11.29–54 on April 8, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
The Pharisees put heavy emphasis upon appearances, but neglected the greater part of themselves, as Jesus said,
Then the Lord said to him, “Now you Pharisees make the outside of the cup and dish clean, but your inward part is full of greed and wickedness. Foolish ones! Did not He who made the outside make the inside also?” (Luke 11.39–40).
What good do we accomplish, if we look good on the outside, but neglect the inside? Truly, He who made us has more concern for how we are on the inside, for He made it as well as our outside.
Questions:
- How much time and thinking do you give to your outward appearance versus your inward nature?
- Did you know that you can get better on the inside while on the outside you deteriorate?
