04.08.2016 Old Testament: Ruth 1.22
To read the Bible in a year, read The Book of Ruth on April 8, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
Naomi’s husband died and her son died, who was married to Ruth. Then Naomi decided to move back to Israel from Moab. Ruth insisted on going with her and we see no reason in the story to think that Ruth believed she had a hand in making history. Chapter 1 ends with these words,
So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess her daughter-in-law with her, who returned from the country of Moab. Now they came to Bethlehem at the beginning of barley harvest (Ruth 1.22).
Naomi’s hometown was Bethlehem, and it would also be the hometown of Ruth’s great grandson King David, and someone even more famous than David, but who also descended through Ruth, would be born in Bethlehem.

- Does it seem that you really do not run your life?
- If you do not run your life, who does?
