Why did the Lord make Saul the first king of Israel? Samuel revealed the reason when he rebuked Saul for sin, saying,
So Samuel said, “When you were little in your own eyes, were you not head of the tribes of Israel? And did not the LORD anoint you king over Israel?” (1 Samuel 15.17).
However, Saul became big in his own eyes, and presumed to act without the Lord’s authority.
Keep yourself little, and let the Lord do the exalting, and patiently watch how he uses you.
Questions:
- Have you become arrogant?
- Are you still humble as when you first became a Christian?
