04.29.2016 New Testament: Luke 22.19–20
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 22.1–30 on April 29, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
The night before He died, Jesus revealed to His disciples two gifts He would give them and us, gifts that could never be equaled,
And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you” (Luke 22.19–20).
Think on His words. He gave His body for us. He gave His blood for us. What greater gift could He or anyone ever give us? He gave His body and He gave His blood through a violent death. That sounds horrible to us, but He did it, thinking of us.
