06.19.2016 Old Testament: Neh 9.18–21
To read the Bible in a year, read Nehemiah 9–11 on June 19, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
How did Israel treat the Lord during the wilderness wanderings, and what did He do for them endlessly? As the Levites prayed,
“Even when they made a molded calf for themselves,
And said, ‘This is your god
That brought you up out of Egypt,’
And worked great provocations,
Yet in Your manifold mercies
You did not forsake them in the wilderness.
The pillar of the cloud did not depart from them by day,
To lead them on the road;
Nor the pillar of fire by night,
To show them light,
And the way they should go.
You also gave Your good Spirit to instruct them,
And did not withhold Your manna from their mouth,
And gave them water for their thirst.
Forty years You sustained them in the wilderness;
They lacked nothing;
Their clothes did not wear out
And their feet did not swell.”
(Nehemiah 9.18–21)
The manifold mercies of the Lord never stop. He shows mercy in one way and then another. While people turn their backs on Him, He provides guidance and leadership, He instructs them, He feeds them, He provides water, and He provides clothing.
Rather than running away from Him, let us run to Him!
Questions:
- Have you turned your back on the Lord in the past?
- When you returned, did you seek His forgiveness and speak highly of His mercy?
