07.25.2016 – Old Testament: Psa 44.23–26
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 44–46 on July 25, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
You struggle through life, and you begin to question where God is. The sons of Korah wrote of that very experience,
Awake! Why do You sleep, O Lord?
Arise! Do not cast us off forever.
Why do You hide Your face,
And forget our affliction and our oppression?
For our soul is bowed down to the dust;
Our body clings to the ground.
Arise for our help,
And redeem us for Your mercies’ sake.
(Psalm 44.23–26)
Speak to the Lord about the situation as you see it, but do not speak to Him disrespectfully. Honor Him always, for He is always right, but acknowledge that you need Him in your present crisis and that you trust Him.
Questions:
- What do you do when the Lord seems absent?
- Do you know how to speak to the Lord in such a way that you touch His heart?
