The God of heaven is our Teacher for life on Earth. However, sometimes we go astray, and He does what is necessary to bring us back, although the process does not seem pleasant to us,

My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD,
Nor detest His correction;
For whom the LORD loves He corrects,
Just as a father the son in whom he delights.
(Proverbs 3.11–12) 

It may not seem like it, but correction truly shows love. Have you not corrected someone because you loved him?
