11.04.2016 – New Testament: Heb 1.8–9
To read the Bible in a year, read Hebrews 1 on November 4, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
As the writer of the Book of Hebrews developed his argument for Jesus’ superiority over the angels, the writer quoted from Psalm 45.6–7,
But to the Son He says:
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever;
A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.
You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness;
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You
With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.”
(Hebrews 1.8–9)
The psalmist spoke to Jesus, addressing Him as God twice! How then can anyone deny that Jesus shares in Godhood with the Father? Since Jesus is God, that makes Him far superior to any angel!
Questions:
- What do you believe about Jesus?
- What do you think of speaking to Jesus?
