11.05.2016 – New Testament: Heb 2.17
To read the Bible in a year, read Hebrews 2 on November 5, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
Jesus took on flesh and blood, because we are flesh and blood, and that also enabled Him to experience death. Therefore, He can give us the aid that we need, and the writer of the Book of Hebrews said further,
Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people (Hebrews 2.17).
Now that Jesus took on flesh and blood, He can be the High Priest, one who stands between God and man. Jesus left the glories of heaven to live on the Earth, working initially as a carpenter, and then He let men kill Him, all that He might serve as the go-between, the High Priest that we need so desperately to represent us before God.
Questions:
- How would you describe what Jesus did for us?
- What does He now what from us?
