11.08.2016 – Old Testament: Jer 49.23–27
To read the Bible in a year, read Jeremiah 49–50 on November 8, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
We see Damascus suffering in the news today, but the city has endured troublesome times before, because of its own sin,
Against Damascus.
“Hamath and Arpad are shamed,
For they have heard bad news.
They are fainthearted;
There is trouble on the sea;
It cannot be quiet.
Damascus has grown feeble;
She turns to flee,
And fear has seized her.
Anguish and sorrows have taken her like a woman in labor.
Why is the city of praise not deserted, the city of My joy?
Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets,
And all the men of war shall be cut off in that day,” says the LORD of hosts.
“I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus,
And it shall consume the palaces of Ben-hadad.”
(Jeremiah 49.23–27)
The Lord did not spare His own nation when they sinned against Him, why would He spare Damascus and Syria, which also belong to Him, because He created all things and all people?
Questions:
- Shall the Lord spare any nation or city today that continues to sin against Him?
- What can you do to spare your city and nation from the Judgment of God?
We need the preaching of Jonah and repentance like at Nineveh.
