12.21.2016 – New Testament: Rev 12.1–2
To read the Bible in a year, read Revelation 12 on December 21, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
The Lord pictured Israel bringing the Christ into the world by using a magnificent woman to symbolize the nation,
Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars. Then being with child, she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth (Revelation 12.1–2).
John saw imagery similar to dreams that Joseph had of his family. Look at her. She wore the sun. She stood on the moon. Twelve stars encircled her head. She was glorious, for she belonged to the Lord, and then she got ready to give birth to the Lord Himself, and the world has never been the same since.
Questions:
- Why would the Lord allow Himself to become a baby?
- How or in what ways has the Lord changed the world?
