01.23.2017 – New Testament: Matt 16.20
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 16 on January 23, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
There is a time to keep silent, and a time to speak. (See Ecclesiastes 3.7.) Wise is he who knows the right time for silence and the right time for speaking. Jesus told His disciples during a certain time in His ministry that they had to remain silent about His identity,
Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ (Matthew 16.20).
They remained silent, but when the time to speak came, no one could quiet them, and it is a good thing, because they changed the world for all time.
Questions:
- Can you keep silent when it is time for silence?
- Can you speak when it is time to speak?
