When will the Lord return? We do not know. We do not even have the slightest idea. That is not for us to figure out. It is for us to live in preparation for Earth’s greatest event, as Jesus Himself taught,

“Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect” (Matthew 24.42–44). 

Since we cannot know the time of His return, we just need to so live that we anticipate His return at any time! Knowing He may return at any time will affect the way we live.

Questions:

• Do you so live, expecting that Jesus could return at any time?
• Why do you believe Jesus has waited this long?
