We speak often of the thief on the cross and that he asked Jesus to remember Him in His kingdom, but he did not start out so well. First, he was a thief. Second, he may have turned to Jesus, but initially he did not,

Even the robbers who were crucified with Him reviled Him with the same thing (Matthew 27.44). 

Therefore, something turned the heart of one of the men away from himself and toward Jesus. The man turned just in time!
