Israel and the Philistines to fight one another, but then the Philistines sent out raiders,

Then raiders came out of the camp of the Philistines in three companies. One company turned onto the road to Ophrah, to the land of Shual, another company turned to the road to Beth Horon, and another company turned to the road of the border that overlooks the Valley of Zeboim toward the wilderness (1 Samuel 13.17–18). 

Suddenly the Philistines opened the battle on three additional fronts, making it even more difficult for the unarmed Israelites to fight their enemies.

The enemies of the church have done the same thing. We do not deal with merely one adversary, but many seek to silence the church. Therefore, let us continue to arm ourselves with what the Lord gives to us, especially the sword of the Spirit.
