Israel truly returned from Babylonian captivity, for Nehemiah recorded the families that returned and what they gave for the work of rebuilding their wall. Then he said,

So the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, some of the people, the Nethinim, and all Israel dwelt in their cities. When the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities (Nehemiah 7.73). 

The Lord said this would happen and it happened, although some people say it has yet to happen.
