06.21.2017 – New Testament: Acts 5.5–6
To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 5.1–16 on June 21, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
A man lied about the percentage of money that he gave to the church, but it was also a lie against the Holy Spirit, against God. Consequently watch what happened to the man,
Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things. And the young men arose and wrapped him up, carried him out, and buried him (Acts 5.5–6).
He lied, he died. The same would happen to his wife later. The man wanted to look good, but the Spirit, since He is God, knew what the man was and what he did, even as the Spirit does with each of us.
Questions:
- Have you lied about your contribution to the church?
- If so, why did you do it?
