08.27.2017 – Old Testament: Psa 132.13–16
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 132–135 on August 27, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
The Lord loved Zion, which we know as Jerusalem, or especially a mountain or hill in Jerusalem where Solomon built the temple. A psalmist wrote,
For the LORD has chosen Zion;
He has desired it for His dwelling place:
“This is My resting place forever;
Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.
I will abundantly bless her provision;
I will satisfy her poor with bread.
I will also clothe her priests with salvation,
And her saints shall shout aloud for joy.
(Psalm 132.13–16)
All of that prefigured the church, which Hebrews 12 says is Mount Zion or the heavenly Jerusalem. The Lord has chosen to dwell in or with His people who make up the church, and we find it a magnificent blessing.
