Solomon knew that his parents had committed adultery, and he also knew the devastation it wrought in their lives. Therefore, he implored his son on the matter of adultery,

Therefore hear me now, my children,
And do not depart from the words of my mouth.
Remove your way far from her,
And do not go near the door of her house…
(Proverbs 5.7–8) 

Stay as far away from an adulterous situation as you can, for the temptation of sexual lust will bring down even the greatest among men and women.
