Many people do not like preaching, yet, the Lord chose that method of communication to let the world know what He provided for us in the Spirit,
Paul, a bondservant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect and the acknowledgment of the truth which accords with godliness, in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began, but has in due time manifested His word through preaching, which was committed to me according to the commandment of God our Savior… (Titus 1.1–3).
I know that some preachers can go on endlessly (I am sure that some people think that of me) and that others present their material in the most boring way possible, but preaching done right, opens the eyes of all who hear, leading them to believe the truth, which in turn brings the hope of eternal life in their souls.
Questions:
- What do you think of preaching?
- What makes a good sermon?
- What makes a poor sermon?
