The Book of Joel speaks of a horrible locust invasion of at least four different kinds of locusts and the devastation they would bring to the land of Judah. Then the prophet uses that to speak of a coming day of the Lord,

The earth quakes before them,
The heavens tremble;
The sun and moon grow dark,
And the stars diminish their brightness.
The LORD gives voice before His army,
For His camp is very great;
For strong is the One who executes His word.
For the day of the LORD is great and very terrible;
Who can endure it?
(Joel 2.10–11)

When the Lord sends judgment, whether a judgment upon a nation such as Judah or upon the whole world, you will know it. Most people see the Day of the Lord as a good thing, but the prophet shows that it means condemnation for the wicked, who normally outnumber the righteous.

Questions:

  • Are you prepared for the final Day of the Lord?
  • Do you know what to do to prepare for it?
