Satan uses whatever he can to hurt the church, the people of the Lord. Satan hates the Lord and gets at Him by trying to harm us. One way to harm the church is through the economy. Of the earth beast that Satan had created, John wrote,

He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name (Revelation 13.16–17).

However, Christians have always survived regardless of what the devil has thrown at us, and if we die, well, we are all going to die anyway and we became Christians to prepare us for death.
