01.25.2018 – New Testament: Matt 18.1
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 18.1–20 on January 25, In the year of our Lord 2018
By Don Ruhl
Jesus had just spoken of the kings of the earth and that prompted a question from the disciples about the kingdom of heaven,
At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” (Matthew 18.1).
Why ask that question? Why was it on their minds? Is it on our minds? Who do you think is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? Jesus talked about the kings of the earth not taking taxes from their sons. Did the idea of “sons” prompt them to see whether they were sons of the kingdom, hence exempt from any taxes that the kingdom of heaven might collect?
Questions:
- Do you want to be great in the kingdom?
- Are you willing to pay the price for greatness?
- Do you know what Jesus said comprises greatness in His kingdom?
