02.04.2018 – Old Testament: Exo 34.22–24
To read the Bible in a year, read Exodus 34–36 on February 4, In the year of our Lord 2018
By Don Ruhl
The Lord required the Israelite males to appear before Him three times a year and that would be in Jerusalem. What about their families and homes while they were away?
“And you shall observe the Feast of Weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering at the year’s end. Three times in the year all your men shall appear before the Lord, the LORD God of Israel. For I will cast out the nations before you and enlarge your borders; neither will any man covet your land when you go up to appear before the LORD your God three times in the year” (Exodus 34.22–24).
The Lord would make sure that no one would seek their land while they were gone, because they were doing what He said to do. In Matthew 6.33, Jesus told us virtually the same thing, not that people will not try to take our things, but that if we look after His things, He will take care of our things,
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6.33).
Questions:
- Do you seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness?
- Does the Lord get your leftovers?
