02.05.2018 – New Testament: Matt 23.27–28
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 23.23–39 on February 5, In the year of our Lord 2018
By Don Ruhl
The Pharisees had a major problem, because they made themselves look good, but only with part of the self,
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness” (Matthew 23.27–28).
You have seen beautiful tombs and monuments, but would they retain their beauty if you could see the bodies buried beneath? The thing is, Jesus can see into the ground and see the decaying bodies and He can look inside us and see what we truly are.
Questions:
- What are you on the inside?
- Do you seek the Lord with your whole heart?
