03.12.2018 – Old Testament: Deu 18.6–8
To read the Bible in a year, read Deuteronomy 17–19 on March 12, In the year of our Lord 2018
By Don Ruhl
The Levites did not have a region in the land of Israel that they could call their own, although the Lord did give them 48 cities. If a Levite moved about,
“So if a Levite comes from any of your gates, from where he dwells among all Israel, and comes with all the desire of his mind to the place which the LORD chooses, then he may serve in the name of the LORD his God as all his brethren the Levites do, who stand there before the LORD. They shall have equal portions to eat, besides what comes from the sale of his inheritance” (Deuteronomy 18.6–8).
It was not as though a Levite could not move around, and if he did move to another Levite city, he could still serve the Lord in his new city, receiving all the benefits of a Levite and still doing the work of the Lord.
Questions:
- Do you know that if you are a Christian you are a priest to God?
- Do you serve God wherever you are, even if you are not in a church building?
