Jesus did His work on earth, not doing too much or too little, but always doing what the Father wanted Him to do. After His resurrection, He appeared to His disciples and the last time that He appeared to them, He ascended into heaven,

So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God (Mark 16.19).

He sat down because He finished the work the Father had assigned to Him. Jesus now reigns as our King!
