04.30.2018 – New Testament: Luke 22.43
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 22.31–53 on April 30, In the year of our Lord 2018
By Don Ruhl
Jesus poured out His soul to God in the Garden of Gethsemane as He anticipated the horrors of the cross. Jesus is the Son of God, but while living on the earth, He was also the Son of Man, needing strength at such a desperate time,
Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him (Luke 22.43).
Angels may not appear to us, but Hebrews 1.14 assures us that they minister for us, helping us in the struggles of life.
We praise God that Jesus received angelic help, because then He could go on to the cross, not that we rejoice that He suffered, but that by His massive suffering He set us free from the shackles of sin.
