To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 22.54–71 on May 1, In the year of our Lord 2018
By Don Ruhl
We often criticize Peter, yet, he went places and did things for the Lord that we would never do. After Jewish officers arrested Jesus, watch Peter,
Having arrested Him, they led Him and brought Him into the high priest’s house. But Peter followed at a distance (Luke 22.54).
Should Peter have been closer, standing right with the Lord? Yes, he should have, because he promised that he would. However, where were the multiplied thousands who had followed Jesus? Where were the people He had healed?
Yes, Peter should have stood closer to the Lord, but he stood closer than all other people did.
Questions:
- Where are you when the Lord needs you?
- Do you follow close to the Lord, but not too close, so as to avoid persecution?
