10.17.2018 – Old Testament: Isa 63.10
To read the Bible in a year, read Isaiah 62–64 on October 17, In the year of our Lord Christ 2018
By Don Ruhl
Starting at Isaiah 63.7, the prophet spoke of the great goodness of the Lord toward the house of Isarel and the confidence that He had in them. The prophet also noted that the Lord was afflicted every time they were afflicted and that He showed His love to them endlessly. However, Israel did not return the goodness:
But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit;
So He turned Himself against them as an enemy,
And He fought against them.
(Isaiah 63.10)
Since they turned against His wonderful gifts, especially the greatest one, that of the Holy Spirit, He had to turn against them and fight them, which grieved the Spirit.
You do not want to grieve His Holy Spirit, for then you will turn the Creator of the universe against you.
