10.24.2018 – Old Testament: Jer 12.3–4
To read the Bible in a year, read Jeremiah 11–13 on October 24, In the year of our Lord Christ 2018
By Don Ruhl
Jeremiah just did what the Lord told him to do, speaking the Lord’s word without diminishing one word, but for that, his brethren persecuted him. He said to the Lord:
But You, O LORD, know me; You have seen me, and You have tested my heart toward You. Pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter. How long will the land mourn, and the herbs of every field wither? The beasts and birds are consumed, for the wickedness of those who dwell there, because they said, “He will not see our final end” (Jeremiah 12.3–4)
The land even reacted negatively to the existence of the wicked upon it. Therefore, the prophet urged the Lord to do something about them, to pull them out like sheep for the slaughter.
Questions:
- Have you given much thought to how moral evil affects the land?
- Have you prayed to the Lord about the existence of the wicked in the land?
