03.25.2019 – New Testament: Luke 4.38–39
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 4.33–44 on March 25, In the year of our Lord Christ 2019
By Don Ruhl
If Jesus is the Creator, we would expect Him to be able to rule over the laws of nature that He Himself set in motion. As the Creator, He can maintain those laws or He can temporarily suspend them. The latter describes a miracle, the temporary suspension of natural laws. Watch Him with Peter’s mother-in-law:
Now He arose from the synagogue and entered Simon’s house. But Simon’s wife’s mother was sick with a high fever, and they made request of Him concerning her. So He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. And immediately she arose and served them.
– Luke 4.38–39
Try rebuking a fever that someone has and then see if that person immediately gets up and starts serving others. No one can do such a thing, unless God has sent and empowered that person. God sent Jesus and we do well to accept Him as such.
Questions:
- How long does it take you to recover from a fever?
- What do you have to do to get over it?
