New Testament: Luke 22.24
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 22.1–30 on April 29, In the year of our Lord Christ 2019
By Don Ruhl
The apostles knew that they were part of something big, and the Lord had chosen them to have leading parts in it. As they looked among themselves, they started wondering which one of them was the greatest:
Now there was also a dispute among them, as to which of them should be considered the greatest.
– Luke 22.24
You can see why they would have disputed such a topic, but it is also true that they had not yet grasped what this kingdom was about or they never would have disputed about who was the greatest. The kingdom of Christ is not about being the greatest and having many serve you and honor you, but the kingdom of Christ is serving others.
Questions:
- Do you serve or do you expect to be served?
- Why are you a member of the church?
