07.24.2019 – Old Testament: Psa 42.9–10
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 41–43 on July 24, In the year of our Lord 2019
By Don Ruhl
We know that unbelievers question the presence, or more accurately the existence of God, but sometimes believers question where He is too,
I will say to God my Rock,
“Why have You forgotten me?
Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?”
As with a breaking of my bones,
My enemies reproach me,
While they say to me all day long,
“Where is your God?”– Psalm 42.9–10
Job thought this way. Jesus hanging on the cross, cried out, “My God, My God, Why have you forsaken me?” You can read many other psalms in which the psalmist wondered where God was.
This led to the enemies of God’s people also questioning where He was. However, as you continue to read Psalm 42, and as you read the rest of the Bible, you discover that God eventually shows Himself and defeats His enemies. Therefore, stay with Him and watch what He does in your life.
Questions:
- Do you wonder where God is sometimes?
- How do you answer other people who ask where He is?
