When the Lord reports, what is it like? For Edom, the report spoke of disaster. Obadiah recorded the words of the report:

The vision of Obadiah.
Thus says the Lord GOD concerning Edom
(We have heard a report from the LORD,
And a messenger has been sent among the nations, saying,
“Arise, and let us rise up against her for battle”

– Obadiah 1

You do not want to hear the Lord commanding His armies to rise up against you or your nation. Edom had become great, but that would change:

“Behold, I will make you small among the nations;
You shall be greatly despised.”

– Obadiah 2

It happened even as the Lord commanded. Today, the ancient capital of Edom (Petra) is nothing more than a tourist attraction.

Do you want your nation or your church or your family to fall from grace and become small, becoming nothing more than a tourist trap for people to gaze at and wonder about its former glory? If not, work for the righteousness of your group.
