How people treat us versus how God treats us

Old Testament: Psa 86.14–15

To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 85–87 on August 9, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023

By Don Ruhl

Have people treated you badly or unfairly? If so, what did you do about it? I would encourage you to do what David did in Psalm 86; speak to God about it: “O God, the proud have risen against me, and a mob of violent men have sought my life, and have not set You before them. But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth” (Psalm 86.14–15).

Simply tell God what man has done to you, but confess to God how he has treated you. Then notice what that does to your spirit.

Questions:

  • What are the ways that show God’s compassion?
  • How do you treat people?
