What belongs to the Lord

Old Testament: Psa 89.11–12

To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 88–89 on August 10, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023

By Don Ruhl

You have your stuff, and your neighbor has his. We are careful to guard our property boundaries, and so is our neighbor, because neither one of us wants to lose an inch.

However, the God of heaven owns it all, as Ethan the psalmist said: “The heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours; the world and all its fullness, You have founded them. The north and the south, You have created them; Tabor and Hermon rejoice in Your name” (Psalm 89.11–12).

That is why Yahweh is God. Let us not then overly concern ourselves with our speck of possessions, but know that God owns it all anyway.

Questions:

  • What percentage do you think you own of the earth?
  • What is your greatest concern in life?
