Old Testament: Song 7.11–13
To read the Bible in a year, read Song of Solomon 6–8 on September 23, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023
By Don Ruhl
Remember earlier in the Song, that Solomon had invited the Shulamite to go away with him (2.10–14).
Later, she invited him to go away with her, for she wanted to show him some things, and to experience some things with him: “Come, my beloved, Let us go forth to the field; let us lodge in the villages. Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see if the vine has budded, whether the grape blossoms are open, and the pomegranates are in bloom. There I will give you my love. The mandrakes give off a fragrance, and at our gates are pleasant fruits, all manner, new and old, which I have laid up for you, my beloved” (Song 7.11–13).
They had both spoken of wine, and so she wanted to go to a place where grapes were grown.
What would she do there? She would give him her love. She wanted to be with him and to give to him her love, as evidenced by verse 13.
- Love wants to include the loved one.
- Love wants to discover with the loved one.

Questions:
