We are justified before God by faith in Christ

New Testament: Gal 2.15–16

Most people in the world believe that they are going to heaven, because they rate themselves as good people.

However, listen to what Paul told the Galatian Christians: “We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified” (Galatians 2.15–16).

Obviously, a person has to do what the Lord says, and that includes being a good person. However, ultimately we have to trust in Jesus to justify us before God that we might enter heaven, because the truth is, even if we are good people generally speaking, we have sinned, and only Jesus can remove that sin, which bars us from heaven.

I cannot put my trust in myself, but I put my trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, for he is the only way to be saved.
