We have people who desire to be with us, but then something can happen that turns them against us. It is shocking and hurtful when it does happen, but we need to keep control of our thoughts and respond accordingly.
This happened to Joseph. His master’s wife desired him, but he resisted. Finally, he had to run away from her, after she had grabbed ahold of his garment, and then he left: “And so it was, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and fled outside, that she called to the men of her house and spoke to them, saying, ‘See, he has brought in to us a Hebrew to mock us. He came in to me to lie with me, and I cried out with a loud voice. And it happened, when he heard that I lifted my voice and cried out, that he left his garment with me, and fled and went outside” (Genesis 39.13–15).
First, she wanted him, then she turned against him so much that she wanted her husband to punish him.
People are fickle. Therefore, always put your faith in the hand of the Lord.
