The British Empire vs the Kingdom of Heaven

New Testament: Matt 13.33

To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 13.33–58 on January 18, In the year of our Lord Christ 2024

By Don Ruhl

For awhile, it was said that the sun never set on the British Empire. However, for a long time it has been said, and it shall continue to be said, that the sun never sets on the Kingdom of Heaven.

Jesus prophesied in a parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal till it was all leavened” (Matthew 13.33).

The Kingdom of Heaven started small, but immediately it started to leaven the rest of the earth until it could be said that it circled the globe. That happened long before the British Empire arrived and it will continue long after it is gone. We see no reason to think the Kingdom of Heaven shall stop growing anytime soon.

Questions:

  • Are you part of that world-wide Kingdom of Heaven?
  • What is leaven?
