The source of all your good things

New Testament: John 3.27

To read the Bible in a year, read John 3.22–36 on May 11, In the year of our Lord Christ 2024

By Don Ruhl

How did you acquire all the good things you have in life? John the Baptizer told his disciples, “A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven” (John 3.27).

John said that about Jesus, and that the disciples of John should not have become jealous for John’s sake because Jesus had become more popular than John.

What John said was a general truth that applies to all, and if Jesus truly came from the Father in heaven, then Jesus did his good things because he received them from heaven, that is, from the Father in heaven.

Give God the glory for all that you have.

Questions:

  • Does acknowledging God as the source of all your good things mean that you do not have to work for things?
  • How does God give you all your good things?
