People still want to kill others for disagreeing with them

New Testament: Acts 5.33

To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 5.17–42 on June 22, In the year of our Lord 2024

By Don Ruhl

There are some people who want to kill you if you disagree with them. That is hard to imagine, but it has been going on for a long time, as you will see in Acts 5. Peter and John preached Jesus in Jerusalem. The Jewish leaders had them arrested and Peter spoke boldly about Jesus. Then Luke wrote:

When they heard this, they were furious and plotted to kill them.

– Acts 5.33

All the apostles suffered severe persecution, leading to death, except for John, who, although he suffered greatly in the body, did not die from persecution. Here is the thing, some people hate the truth and the light enough that they will also hate the person who brings the truth and the light to them.

Questions:

  • Have you had someone disagree with you strongly for speaking the truth?
  • How did you respond?
