Living a fearless life

Old Testament: Psa 91.3–6

To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 90–92 on August 11, In the year of our Lord Christ 2024

By Don Ruhl

The heroic people in the Bible amaze me with their fearlessness. That fearlessness comes from their faith and confidence in the Lord’s deliverance: “Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday” (Psalm 91.3–6).

The psalmist did not say those things would not happen to God’s people, but that he will deliver them from such things.

Questions from today’s reading and devotional:

  • From what troubles has the Lord delivered you?
  • How would you rate your level of confidence in the Lord?
