Old Testament: Psa 119.81–88
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalm 119.49–104 on August 22, In the year of our Lord Christ 2024
By Don Ruhl
Verses 81–88 of Psalm 119, has one of the few passages in the entire Psalm that does not make a reference to the written word of God, and that is verse 84: “How many are the days of Your servant? When will You execute judgment on those who persecute me?” (Psalm 119.84).
The Psalm begins with the psalmist expressing his utter desperation for the Lord’s salvation, because evidently it was elusive to him, or so he thought. Nevertheless, he continued to hope in the word of the Lord.
Whatever troubles you, be sure to know what the word says, and trust whatever it says, for then you will find the salvation that you need from your trouble.
Questions:
- Do you ever wonder how many are your days, that is, how long you will live?
- In what way had the psalmist become like a wineskin?
