Be sure to greet people

New Testament: 1Co 16.20

To read the Bible in a year, read First Corinthians 16 on September 8, In the year of our Lord Christ 2024

By Don Ruhl

As Paul ended what we call First Corinthians, he sent many greetings to them, and he encouraged them to greet one another: “All the brethren greet you. Greet one another with a holy kiss” (1 Corinthians 16.20).

How does it affect you when others do not greet you? Remember that feeling, and then be sure to greet people, even if they are strangers to you.

Many people fear to greet strangers, even visitors to the church’s gatherings. Bad things will not happen to you if you greet people. Just go up, say your first name, stretch out your hand, and wait for the visitor to do the rest.

Questions:

  • Have you served as a greeter at your church?
  • Should Christians wait for people to greet them, or should Christians initiate the greeting?
