What makes the heart sick

Old Testament: Pro 13.12

To read the Bible in a year, read Proverbs 13–14 on September 8, In the year of our Lord Christ 2024

By Don Ruhl

If you give someone hope that you will do something for them, and then you fail to do it, you have to understand what that will do to that person: “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life” (Proverbs 13.12).

If you do not keep your promises, you will make someone’s heart sick, but if you do keep your promises, it will be like a tree of life to the one to whom you made the promise.

Questions:

  • Has someone failed to keep a promise to you?
  • Have you kept all your promises?
